About

The development of research trainees is at the heart of the Words in the World project, and it proceeds with collaboration between research communities, industry, and community partners. The Words in the World training initiative is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

The project has three main subgoals:

  • To develop psycholinguistic methods with real-world permeability, moving laboratory techniques into the real-world and real word issues into the laboratory;
  • To understand the real world determinants of processing, including the roles of specific language experience, situational contexts, and changes over the lifespan;
  • To build innovation and real-world language solutions, through the development of software for experimental research, tools for language assessment and improvement, and open access and licensed data sources.
