“Can Bayesian inference serve as an alternative to classical statistical methods based on Null Hypothesis Significance Testing (NHST)? This virtual office hour will serve as a brief introduction to this exciting alternative analytical approach. We will go over basic concepts such as prior and posterior distributions, review the conceptual differences between Bayesian inference and NHST, and discuss the relation between Bayesian parameter estimation and Bayesian model selection via Bayes Factors. The meeting will include active demonstrations using JASP (“the Bayesian SPSS”): Please install the software before the meeting: https://jasp-stats.org/. “
